CHARLESTON, Ill. (WAND) - A horse barn caught on fire at the Coles County Fairgrounds Friday night. Multiple fire crews were called around 9pm, including Charleston, Lincoln and Mattoon.
When they arrived, fire crews encountered a metal horse barn fully engulfed in flames. WAND spoke with a member of the Coles County Fair board, who confirmed that it was Horse Barn #2.
All of the horses in the neighboring barns were evacuated. Five of the sixteen horses inside of Barn #2 were found dead.

No fire related injuries have been reported.
The Charleston Fire Department remained on the scene until approximately 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12.
The fire has been put out. The cause is still under investigation.
