Decatur native to attempt World Marathon Challenge

DECATUR - A Decatur native will be the sole U.S. representative in the 2015 World Marathon Challenge.

Tim Durbin grew up in Decatur, and attended Maroa-Forsyth High School.  Durbin will be one of only 12 other people from around the globe to attempt the World Marathon Challenge this year.  To complete the challenge, competitors must run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.  To date, 102 competitors have completed the challenge.  As part of the challenge, Durbin says he's attempting to raise $77,777 for The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

In addition to the World Marathon Challenge, Durbin is also participating in the 10-Year Challenge, which is to walk, run, swim, and ski 24,901 miles, or the distance around Earth's equator, in 10 years.  He began in 2013, and to date he has completed 7,492 miles toward his goal.
