Two charged with murder in Springfield's January 26 homicide - updated

SPRINGFIELD - Two people have been charged with murder in connection with the January 26 death of Louis Tuttle. Larry Broomfield, 16, who made his initial court appearance Tuesday, is charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of armed robbery. Broomfield is being charged as an adult.

The other suspect, Lonell Bates, 20, also faces multiple charges. He is charged with first degree murder, armed robbery, and concealing a homicide.

 Tuttle's body was found in the 2000 block of East Edwards after being shot several times.

Authorities say the suspect was receiving treatment at a local hospital for injuries he allegedly received in connection to the death.  Springfield police questioned the suspect after he was released from the hospital, and was taken into custody.

Bates and Broomfield are being held on $2,000,000 bond each.
