Women and children's health care, teaching to improve with new alliance
SPRINGFIELD – HSHS St. John's Hospital and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and SIU HealthCare are joining forces in an effort to bring better care to the region.
The 10-year alliance will expand access to pediatric and women's health care services and solidifies the joint organization's commitment to teaching and research.
“This latest alliance distinguishes our organizations as leaders in the delivery of high quality health care for women, infants, and children in Sangamon County and the surrounding communities,” said Dr. Charles Lucore, President and CEO of HSHS St. John's Hospital.
The alliance includes a 10-year commitment from St. John's Hospital to support SIU School of Medicine's OB/GYN and Pediatrics Departments.
SIU HealthCare and St. John's Hospital will also co-develop and brand a new medical office building for clinical services and teaching for women and children on the St. John's Hospital campus.
“We share a common goal of better health and better health care for our patients,” said Dr. Jerry Kruse, CEO of SIU HealthCare and Executive Associate Dean of SIU School of Medicine.
