Homeward Bound Pet Shelter volunteer sees success with unique fundraiser

Posted: Updated:
DECATUR - In an effort to promote "Adopt-a-Cat Month" during June, one local pet shelter volunteer has developed a unique fundraiser designed to help felines find loving homes.

Homeward Bound Pet Shelter officials say one of the organization's volunteers, Jeanette Skaluba, developed "Yoga for Cats!" after being inspired by the cats at the shelter.  A video showing humans and cats participating in this unique program has seen success on YouTube, gathering more than 40,000 views in a short amount of time.

Skaluba says this fundraiser was designed to help raise awareness and highlight adoptable cats at Homeward Bound Pet Shelter, and that she hopes that the success of this event will help start a trend for shelters and yoga studios throughout the area.  For more information on future "Yoga for Cats!" events, call Kelly Gagnon at (217) 875-8880.
