$60 million hospital project in Taylorville

Taylorville, Ill (WAND) -- Taylorville Memorial Hospital officially broke ground Friday for a new $60 million building on the hospital campus.

Construction work is already underway on the 97,000 square foot structure.  The two-story building will replace the current five-story facility built in 1954.

“A two-and-a-half year project so we can modernize the facilities for the people of Taylorville for decades to come,” Kim Bourne, CEO of Taylorville Memorial Hospital, told WAND News.  “This is really putting our money where our mouth is and saying we’re here to serve the people.”

The new structure will be built in two-phases and will include 25 private patient rooms.  The project should be completed in 2021.   Taylorville Memorial Hospital employs nearly 340 people.
