Suspect faces murder charge after stabbing

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A suspect is charged with first-degree murder after a stabbing in Decatur. 

Police say Ray James, 48, stabbed a 24-year-old man near the intersection of Oakland and Main streets in Decatur before midnight Thursday. That victim, identified as Cody L. Drew, died from multiple stab wounds at a local hospital. 

Police say they arrested James at about 12:30 p.m. Friday. He is behind bars in the Macon County Jail. 

Staff at Blue Spoon restaurant said they lost one of their own due to senseless violence. According to the restaurant, Drew was a remarkable young man who loved working there. 

Services for Drew have been scheduled for Sunday and Monday.
