SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - An Illinois corrections employee was arrested and charged with custodial sexual misconduct.
WAND-TV was told Jeffrey Dozier was arrested by Springfield police and was behind bars at the Sangamon County Jail. He posted bond and was released from jail Monday.Â
Custodial sexual misconduct is a Class 3Â felony. By definition, it means an employee of a penal system does something sexual with someone who is in custody. Records show Dozier was a corrections food and service supervisor. Sources tell WAND-TV he worked at the Logan Correctional Center. Dozier was employed from October 29, 2001 till May of 2018.
This kind of sexual misconduct is a violation of the "Sexually Violent Persons Commitment Act". Even it was consensual, by law, it's not.Â
WAND-TV sent a Freedom of Information Act request to the Springfield clerk for a sworn statement and report from the police. After reaching out to the Illinois Department of Corrections for a statement, they declined and said "the department cannot comment on personnel issues".
