5 Things to do this weekend

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across central Illinois.

Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Friday, October 10 to Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Magickal Halloween Extravaganza 

Get into the spooky spirit at the Magickal Halloween Extravaganza on October 12 from noon to 6 p.m. at 5130 Hickory Point Frontage Road in Decatur. The event features over 50 local vendors, tarot and reiki practitioners, food trucks, music bingo, face painting, and fun for the whole family.

Scarecrow Festival 

The Scarecrow Festival returns to Ambucs Park in East Urbana this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families can enjoy hayrack rides, a craft market, kids' activities, and more—all for free.

When: Saturday, Oct. 11, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prairie River Cluster of Dog Shows 

The Prairie River Cluster of Dog Shows returns to the Illinois State Fairgrounds October 10–12 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Spectators can enjoy five American Kennel Club conformation shows featuring top dogs from across the country competing for Best in Show honors—admission is free.

Thrive Theater presents Mary Poppins 

The Decatur Civic Center presents Mary Poppins, the beloved story of the Banks family and the magical nanny who helps them rediscover the importance of love and imagination.

Set in 1910 England, this heartwarming production reminds audiences that "anything can happen if you let it."

When: Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12, 7 p.m.

Ride to Honor

The Staab Family will host the 12th annual "Ride in Honor" motorcycle ride on Sunday, October 12, to pay tribute to Veterans by visiting area memorials and laying wreaths at each stop.

The event begins at noon at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield, with proceeds benefiting Spring Street Veterans Renaissance, a housing program for homeless and disabled veterans.
