HISTORY:Â WAND hit the air August 16, 1953 as WTVP, the first television station in Central Illinois and one of the original 19 ABC affiliates. Our call letters changed in 1966 to WAND when purchased by LIN Broadcasting. On September 5, 2005 WAND switched from ABC to NBC. In November 2007, current owner Block Communications, Inc., purchased the remaining 33% of WAND from LIN Television bringing WAND into the Block television family of WDRB Media (FOX), WBKI (CW) & MY58TV Louisville, and WLIO-TV Lima.
