SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Downtown Springfield, Inc. board of directors has started the search for a new executive director.Â
This comes following a mutual separation with Carlos Ortega.Â
Jay Shanle has been appointed to serve as Interim Executive Director and the board has engaged Always On Consulting to lead the search process.Â
DSI Board President David Lee said, "The DSI Board thanks Carlos for his leadership over the last two years. As we begin the search for our next executive director, we are focused on identifying a leader who can build strong relationships and continue advancing DSI's mission to enrich the downtown experience for residents, businesses and visitors."
Shanle currently serves as the DSI Director of Communications and Program Director for the Springfield Area Arts Council.Â
He also serves as co-chair of the Downtown Alliance.Â
He previously served six years on the DSI Board of Directors and on the INB Fire Fund Committee.Â
Ortega is leaving DSI after two years of service.Â
