Federal health officials report that nearly 100 people in 17 states have been sickened in a salmonella outbreak linked to recalled eggs. The illnesses began between last November and June 30. No deaths have been reported, but 26 people have been hospitalized. Investigators say shell eggs recalled by Midwest Poultry Services are a likely source. The Indiana-based company recalled eggs from Texas farms between June 6 and July 3. Consumers should check their refrigerators for recalled eggs and dispose of them or return them for a refund.
