DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Police Department says two people have been arrested in connection with a robbery that happened on the city's north side July 22.
Decatur police say the robbery happened at an apartment in the 1400 block of East Wellington Way at about 10:01 p.m. According to police sworn statements, the victim reported that two people came to his apartment, and after letting them in, one of the individuals displayed what was believed to be a handgun and ordered the victim to get on the ground before taking an Xbox 360 and leaving.
Detectives say the victim identified the person who displayed the handgun as Kevon Watson, 19. Police say the second individual was described as a white male, standing between 5'6" and 5'8" and weighing about 140 pounds.
Decatur police say they found Watson about 20 minutes later, and proceeded to interview him. During these interviews, officers say Watson said that he had spoken with a man identified as Dillon Frame, 19, about a debt that the victim owed him, and that Frame encouraged him to get his money back. Police also say that Watson said he went to the victim's apartment with a BB gun, which resembled a semi-automatic handgun, with the intention of taking money to resolve the debt. According to sworn statements, the Xbox 360 was taken, then later sold for cash.
Watson and Frame were taken into custody, and both face a preliminary charge of aggravated robbery. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
