DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Each year, honored guests from Macon Resources Inc, head to Night to Shine for a prom-like experience. The event takes place on the same night in more than 700 locations across the country.Â
Night to Shine in Decatur is a partnership between MRI, First Christian Church, and GT Church. This year more than 500 people are volunteering to help and more than 350 honored guests will be attending.Â
The event includes a red carpet, karaoke, a dance floor, and food, as well as other activities.Â
"I get to put my dress on and everything else, my shoes, my purse, I got my earrings and I'm gonna look so cute tonight," said Annie who is attending the event.Â
Community members donated dresses, suits, and shoes for the honored guests to wear. Volunteers also helped paint nails, style hair, and put on make up before the special night.Â
"We have hairstylists from Signature Salon, who volunteered their services today to come and make our people feel more beautiful than every day," said Amy Bliefnick, President and CEO of Macon Resources. "You should see the smiles on their faces after they get their hair done and just the joy and the sense of pride that they feel from getting to spending a day getting pampering."
