ROCHESTER, Ill. (WAND) - An 18-year-old man was seriously injured following a shooting in Rochester Tuesday afternoon. 

The Rochester Police Department posted on Facebook that it and Sangamon County Sheriff's deputies responded just before 4:30 p.m. along North Oak Street for a medical emergency. 

Rochester police found a man who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital and is being treated for life-threatening injuries. 

The shooting is currently under investigation. 

Police added that there is no threat to public safety in the area.
