DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — During the regularly scheduled Decatur City Council meeting on Monday, December 2, the council is expected to discuss increasing the property tax levy by 7% over the previous year.
What this means for homeowners:
If the council raises the levy by 7%, those with a property valued at $135,000 will see a $14 increase on their property tax bill. If the council only increases the levy by 5%, property taxes will not increase.
The council meets on December 2 at 5:30 p.m.
