Lerna may be a small town but one business in the neighborhood has been drawing people to the town for their fast moving attraction.
It's an attraction uncanny to anything you've ever heard of.
"The machine is probably 35 or 40 years old," Said Dorsie Thompson part owner of the worlds fastest pop machine.
In the quiet town of Lerna Illinois
A soda machine owned by Dorsie and Ivan Thompson has earned the title of the "Worlds Fastest Pop Machine" by locals across central Illinois.
"One night we had like 14 cars in here and i mean it's just took off.. It not something we anticipated when we bought the machines," added Dorsie
Some say the pop machine knows what kind of soda you want before you push the button.
"The machines now have chains and stuff in it that the pop has to run around and this one doesn't it micro switched and it just pops out," added Dorsie.
The machine sits in front of the couples welding business, and has been the talk of town for nearly 10 years.
"They come all hours of the night because they know it's open 24-7," said Ivan Thompson part owner of the pop machine.
The machine next to the orange one was once considered the worlds fastest pop machine as well, but has not worked for 2 years.
"When they both worked they would put money in them to see which one was the fastest, and they both fell out at the same time," said Dorsie.
The couple refills the machine themselves.
"We buy pop about three times a week," added Dorsie.
For only 75 cents the attraction has bubbled up attention from all over.
"A bunch come and they hop and hip and jump and carry on because it's something kind of new to everyone that comes over. I've had people come that bring others over here and it's quite a show," added Ivan
A small town, with a hidden treasure sure stay popular for years to come.
