SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Five arbitrators losing their jobs in an overhaul of the Illinois workers' compensation system are suing the governor.

The employees say they did nothing wrong but are being fired anyway without due process. They also complain that Gov. Pat Quinn damaged their reputations by making statements critical of workers' comp.

They sued Tuesday in Springfield to block the firings and get at least $500,000 in damages.

State officials decided to overhaul workers' comp after reports suggesting abuse and corruption in the way money was awarded for worker's injuries. One change was a decision to get rid of arbitrators and appoint new ones.
