New students attending Illinois State University this fall will pay more for tuition and fees.

The Illinois State University Board of Trustees approved the increase on Friday. The new 7.6% rate is $20 more per credit hour for in-state students. That brings tuition costs to $276 per credit hour. Fees will cost nearly $64 per credit hour.

The new rates will remain locked for four years for incoming 2009-2010 students. Residence hall rates at Illinois State University also will see a 6.3% rise from last year and meal plans will cost 5% more.
