MTD partners with Transit app

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - Champaign–Urbana Mass Transit District is upgrading all of its customers to Transit Royale, the new subscription in the Transit app.

Starting January 21, MTD riders will have access to a free subscription, which unlocks additional features, special custom branding, new customization options, and complete access to the app across the more than 300 supported cities worldwide.

In August 2021, Transit Royale launched in cities where transit agencies had not already chosen Transit as their recommended app for riders.

Once you open the Transit app, riders receive a message informing them that MTD is upgrading them, and they will immediately be able to access the subscription’s additional features.

With this partnership, riders have access to features such as trip planning on MTD routes, trip planning across MTD's on-demand services like West Connect, Northeast Connect, and SafeRides, as well as across modes like bicycling and walking.

Other features include customizable themes, personalized emojis, and leaderboards for users competing to help the most riders with Transit’s GO crowdsourcing feature. T information for reroutes and service disruptions.
