MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) - A Mattoon man is accused of assaulting a woman and pointing a loaded rifle at her.
Police arrested Matthew Phillips, 28, on Monday and charged him with domestic battery and aggravated assault.
Officers said on Sunday in the 800 block of S. 17th St. Phillips grabbed a woman by the wrist and backed her into a wall. They said he also pointed a loaded rifle at the woman and threatened her.
Phillips was taken to the Coles County Jail.
