MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) - People in Mattoon came together to help raise funds and resources for the Coles County Animal Shelter.

Organizer Kirsten Moxley has been working closely with the shelter and believes the need is greater now than ever before.

"I have been involved with the animal shelter for a few years. I started getting highly involved in January and that's when the intake was really double digits. They were getting 20 dogs a week." said Moxley.

At the rummage sale, people brought gently used items, knick-knacks, decorations and more with hopes to help animals find their future home.

"We're working on plenty of more so the sponsoring thing, getting the community involved, getting everyone involved in bringing the dogs out is one of the biggest goals." stated Moxley.
