Decatur, Ill (WAND) – With ice cream manufacturer Tillamook opening its Decatur plant this fall some early hiring is underway. The Oregon based company is renovating and expanding the former Prairie Farms ice cream plant which closed in 2022.
“They expect to have between 50 and 75 jobs,” said Nicole Bateman of the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County. “I believe the tentative plans are for the first ice cream to roll off the line sometime later this fall.”

Bateman praises Tillamook for purchasing the plant which is part of Decatur’s inner core and believes it will help with revitalization of the area.
“They are going to be very good partners in really creating a brand new campus in a very established part of Decatur,” she said.
