URBANA, IL- A Milwaukee man has been convicted of shooting a Champaign man outside the Market Place Mall last year.
Dontrell Thompson, 23, was found guilty of attempted murder and aggravated battery in Champaign County Court Thursday. He is scheduled to be sentenced next month and faces up to life in prison.
Authorities say Thompson drove from Milwaukee to Champaign May 1, 2011 with six other men to shoot Tony Brock because Brock had mistreated one of their friends.
Seven men were charged with various crimes in connection with Brock's shooting. All but one have either pleaded guilty or been convicted.
