Police in Ohio are still searching for suspects who opened fire near a busy street festival in Toledo and wounded 12 people over the weekend. The Toledo Police Department said Sunday that each of the dozen victims were in stable condition. The gunfire erupted Saturday near the Old West End Festival, a popular annual gathering along streets dotted with Victorian homes. Videos posted to social media showed people running at the sound of gunfire and medics tending to the wounded in a park filled with event tents and food trucks. No arrests have been made and authorities have not identified any potential suspects.

Authorities say a shooting near a busy street festival in Ohio has wounded at least 12 people. Toledo police say the shooting happened Saturday near the Old West End Festival, an annual gathering of live music and home tours in a historic district. Deputy Police Chief Joe Heffernan says it appears that at least two people fired weapons and they were “probably shooting at each other.” Heffernan also says two of the victims are in critical condition. Police are searching for suspects with nobody yet in custody. Officials have urged people who were at the festival to come forward with any photos or videos on their phones for possible leads.

Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Brittany Howard and Joan Baez will headline a protest festival near Washington, D.C., shortly before the midterm elections. Former Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello and Springsteen announced the festival Wednesday at a Springsteen concert. The Power to the People festival is set for Oct. 3 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland. It focuses on "freedom, justice, equality, and rock ‘n’ roll." Proceeds will benefit VoteRiders and HeadCount. Morello says the idea is to celebrate activism, creativity and hope. Springsteen has been vocal against President Donald Trump, who has criticized him in return. On Wednesday, Springsteen encouraged the audience to “fight for the America that we love.”

Cristian Mungiu’s Norway-set drama about political polarization “Fjord” has won the Palme d’Or. The Cannes Film Festival’s top honor on Saturday went for the second time to the Romanian director of “4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days.” This year’s edition of the festival saw few films breakout but “Fjord” found wide admiration for its engrossing tale of what Mungiu called “left-wing fundamentalism.” The film stars Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve as Romanian Evangelicals who move to Norway, but soon after have their children taken from them by child services for spanking them.
