Israel and Hamas have agreed to a breakthrough deal to pause the war in Gaza and release the remaining hostages. But many questions remain unanswered. Israel wants to ensure Hamas disarms. Hamas wants to ensure Israeli troops pull completely out of Gaza and do not restart the war. A postwar government for Gaza must be worked out to replace Hamas’ rule. Any hitch in working out those intertwined issues can unravel everything. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's smaller Security Cabinet and the full Cabinet are expected to approve the deal late Thursday. Arab officials and a Hamas official say that after that, a partial pullback of forces in Gaza will start.
