The United States and Iran appear to be closing in on a deal to end the war and open the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. and Iranian negotiators have reached a tentative agreement to extend the ceasefire in the three-month-old war by 60 days and start a new round of talks on Iran’s nuclear program, according to a U.S. official. Iran has not immediately confirmed any deal. Vice President JD Vance has confirmed there is a tentative agreement but says it is unclear if President Donald Trump will approve it. The emerging memorandum of understanding comes as the fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran appears to be wavering.
