Kansas City Royals owner John Sherman says the team is narrowing down its choices for the future home of its new ballpark, and there is a sense of urgency in where it will play beyond the 2031 season. That is when the Royals' lease is due to expire with Jackson County, Missouri, for the use of Kauffman Stadium. Sherman has made it clear the Royals won't play at the popular but aging stadium beyond that season. Sherman said the main choices remain a site in downtown Kansas City, Missouri, another site in North Kansas City and potentially joining the Chiefs in moving across the state line to Kansas. The NFL team made its decision to put its new $3 billion domed stadium in Kansas City, Kansas, last December.
