An Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer charged in Minnesota with shooting and wounding a man in Minneapolis then lying about it could be released from Texas jail if a federal judge does not intervene. Minnesota has asked a federal judge to order the Texas governor to extradite Christian Castro to Minnesota. Castro is charged in Minnesota in the shooting. The judge is expected to announce a decision Wednesday. Texas law says Castro must be released after 90 days of detention, which would be Thursday. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has declined to extradite Castro citing the ongoing investigation into fraud in government social service programs in Minnesota.
