Lawyers have presented closing arguments at the trial of a Utah woman who published a children’s book about grief after the death of her husband and was later accused of killing him. Prosecutors aimed to drive home their argument that Kouri Richins killed her husband for his money. Her defense team argued that the prosecution’s case leaves much to speculation. Authorities say Richins slipped five times a lethal dose of a synthetic opioid into a cocktail that she made for her husband, Eric Richins, leading to his 2022 death at their home outside Park City. Richins has vehemently denied the allegations against her.

Kouri Richins faces a slew of felony charges for allegedly killing her husband with fentanyl in March 2022 at their home just outside the ski town of Park City. Prosecutors say she slipped five times the lethal dose of the synthetic opioid into a cocktail that he drank. Richins denies the allegations.

President Donald Trump says he wants the U.S. to take ownership of the Gaza Strip and redevelop it after Palestinians are resettled elsewhere. He made the remarks in a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Earlier Tuesday, Trump’s Middle East envoy said that a three to five-year timeline for the reconstruction of Gaza is not a viable post-war plan for the battle-torn territory.
