President Donald Trump is calling on Senate Majority Leader John Thune to keep senators in Washington until they pass a strict proof-of-citizenship voting bill. The legislation known as the SAVE America Act has become a priority for Trump even as it's been clear it doesn't have enough support to pass. Thune has repeatedly tried to move on from the issue with the Senate having a full legislative calendar already. But a small but vocal group of Republicans have joined Trump's call. Utah Sen. Mike Lee escalated his pressure last week saying it could affect leadership support after November.
