After counting thousands of ballots, the Macon County Clerk announced Wednesday that incumbent Sheriff Jim Root has won the race.

Root is seeking a third term and has served since June 2021. Beck is currently a deputy at the Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Shane Beck is running against current Macon County Sheriff Jim Root as a write-in candidate in the Republican primary.
