The Supreme Court has again rejected President Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn a $5 million jury verdict in favor of writer E. Jean Carroll. The jury in the New York civil suit found Trump sexually abused Carroll in the mid-1990s and later defamed her. The Republican president’s lawyers wanted the court to reconsider a June decision declining to hear his appeal. It’s unusual for the court to grant such requests. Trump paid the judgment shortly after the court declined to take up the case in June. Carroll is a former advice columnist who testified Trump attacked her in a Manhattan department store dressing room in 1996. Trump denies any wrongdoing.
