Four more belugas have arrived at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago as part of a plan to move the last remaining captive whales from a shuttered theme park in Canada to aquariums in the United States and Spain. Another four whales arrived at the aquarium last month. They were among 30 whales living at the Marineland park in Ontario whose lives were saved from euthanasia at the last minute when the Canadian government approved a plan to export them to U.S. facilities. The whales made the trip in custom-built slings and transport containers. They have settled into a living space with three other animals, and their health is monitored closely, aquarium officials said.
