First responders are checking homes and buildings for possible victims of a powerful tornado that ravaged communities in northeastern Wisconsin. The tornado Monday destroyed homes, flipped cars and toppled trees and powerlines in the Fox Cities region, which includes the communities of Appleton, Menasha and Neenah. Winnebago County Executive Gordon Hintz on Tuesday described the tornado's impact as “incredible.” At least 40 people were treated for injuries, but there have been no reported deaths. Authorities say the timing of the tornado, which arrives shortly after midday when most people were awake, might have contributed to that. Authorities are still going door-to-door in search of other possible victims.
