CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Following a blowout win in the Round of 64, Illinois will take on VCU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. 

The 3-seeded Fighting Illini defeated 14-seeded Penn 105-70 on Thursday night. Five players scored in double-digits, with forward David Mirković leading the way with 29 points. The back-to-back Atlantic 10 conference champion Rams took down blue blood North Carolina in an 82-78 overtime thriller to kick things off. 

This is the first meeting between the programs since Illinois beat VCU 64-46 in December 2016, according to Illinois Athletics.
