CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- Illinois men's basketball team is a few weeks of summer workouts and Tuesday was the first day we got to talk to Brad Underwood since retaining a core from the final four team.
Underwood told us they haven't been a whole team yet with Andrej Stojakovic and Jake Davis both having knee scopes done over the off season...but both are slowly getting back into playing and freshman Lucas Morillo is dealing with a back issue.
And new comers Stefan Vaaks and Quentin Coleman are not on campus, Vaaks is playing for his national team and Coleman is at the Jayson Tatum Elite Camp.
Underwood said it's not uncommon for guys to be in and out in the summer but ready to have everyone back together after the holiday but has been impressed with how the freshman have responded to workouts and how the returners are stepping up as leaders.
