(WAND) -- This time the trip to Peoria is twice as nice.

For the second straight season the Auburn Trojans punched their ticket to the 2A State semis, in just their third year as a co-op with Lutheran High school.

"Last year was kind of uncharted water for us. So every step was something maybe a little different, Head Coach Ryan Patterson said. "But this year I think we had a goal and we just kind of one game at a time, that's kind of how we played it."

With last seasons trip to the final four the team says they were just soaking everything in and that experience will be help this time around.

In 2024 the Trojans walked away with a forth place finish in the programs first ever trip to state but they say this year they have one goal on their minds.

The Trojans begin their quest for a state championship Friday June 6 against Beecher. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
