NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for games played between Monday, April 7 and Sunday, April 13.
Hitter: Clare Rettler, Carthage, Junior (Appleton, Wis.)
Rettler continued her hitting spree last week, collecting 19 hits in 24 plate appearances (.792) to help the Firebirds sweep CCIW doubleheaders from North Central and Elmhurst. She also tallied eight runs scored, five runs batted in and eight stolen bases.
Included in the week was another five-hit game last Tuesday at North Central. The performance gave Rettler 11 consecutive plate appearances with a hit from April 5 through the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus NCC – the seventh-longest stretch in Division III history. She had seven hits in the doubleheader at Elmhurst on Saturday – including her fifth triple of the season – and went 4-for-7 in a non-league twin bill at Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday.
