DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - As Saint Teresa Football kicks off a new season, there is peace in the program.

"A lot more calmness around the program, a lot less questions," said head coach Brit Miller.

The Bulldogs faced countless obstacles last season. A new head coach, no conference to play in and constantly being on the road.

"I welcome anybody in this area to play with the schedule we played last year, right? I mean, it was a rough deal," said Miller. "You're traveling three hours a week, and it was just a kind of a rough deal for everybody."

The Bulldogs went from being the best team in the state to a one-win team.

"We have some guys that have, you know, kind of taken what happened last year and, put it behind them and use it as fuel to kind of get us where we're at today," said Miller.

"That fuel and that memory, able to come back out here, take away from that, and, just get back at it," said senior guard Sammy Sweeley.

The hope is to make it back to the playoffs. And the only way to get back there is to get back to the bulldog way.

"This is a different. Saint Teresa team. I mean, last year. The laziness, lack of effort, all that it's gone now," said Sweeley.
