SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND)— The Springfield Fire Chief says a new CPR device at the Springfield Fire Station is life-saving technology.

The device is the first and only FDA-approved device designed to improve the outcomes of sudden cardiac arrest.

"The device basically improves the compressions of the chest and it's all about compressions, and moving the heart, and moving the blood through the heart, and also up to the brain. This device improves that, which will improve the ability for survival and survival neurologically in tact," said, Greg Chance, the Regional CEO of Medics First.

The CPR device will be in fire stations across the city.
