Cool but quiet start to the weekend

DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Saturday! A cooler but quiet day is on tap for Central Illinois, and warmer temperatures are on the horizon.

We start the weekend with sunshine under high pressure. Temperatures today will be seasonably cool in the upper 20s this afternoon. Tonight, a shortwave upstream allows for a few mid and upper level clouds to roll in, and shifts us to south-southeasterly flow. Both features limit lows to the low 20s overnight, and user in milder air for Sunday

Cloudy skies Sunday morning will give way to some sunshine by the late afternoon, and high temperatures push into the mid 30s. Temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s will return for the start of next week, giving Central Illinois a much-needed break from the bitter cold.
