DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Happy Saturday! We’re tracking a clipper system that will bring some slippery, wintry weather though tomorrow morning.

Significant Snowfall.png

Temperatures this morning are in the low 30s, and we’ll be in this range all day today. This sets us up for a mix of rain and snow as it rolls in this evening. This also means that accumulation will be limited to the areas that are able to stay cold enough through the upper levels of our atmosphere for snow. Those areas will most likely be limited to the I-74 corridor and north/northwest. These areas may be able to see about a coating of snow stick by tomorrow morning.

The rest of us will have concerns for rain that freezes on the lingering snowy and frozen surface. The freezing rain could leave a few slick spots on the roads overnight, or even a light glaze of ice along the I-72 corridor. This concern for snow and ice is why a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for a portion of Central Illinois. It goes into effect at 9 pm tonight and continues through 6 am tomorrow morning.  Use extra caution while stepping out onto sidewalks, outdoor stairs, or driving on overpasses and bridges.

Wintry precip will taper off by tomorrow afternoon.
