DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The chill of fall is in! Well, at least for the time being. The source region for the air over the coming days this week will be from the Canadian Plains. While that air will modify somewhat in the daytime sunshine, it will be significantly cooler than recent days/months.

The last time we had temperatures in the 40s at night was Sept. 9. You have to go all the way back to April 16 to find the last time it was in the 30s! Although widespread 30-degree weather is not likely, we certainly can get parts of Central Illinois that cold by Wednesday night and/or Thursday night. It is not even out of the realm of possibilities that a touch of light frost can develop in the coldest countryside locales.

In typical Illinois fashion, weather more typical of late summer shall return this weekend.
