CHATHAM, Ill. (WAND) - The Chatham Police Department welcomes a new K9 officer to its team. 

Astro is the newest four legged addition to the department after completing the canine training academy and taking to the streets with his partner, Officer Adam Dierkes. 

Officer Dierkes shared in a social media post that Astro is excited to help in their efforts to keep Chatham safe and he's ready to start catching bad guys. He's also ready to start working in our local schools, and he's excited to meet and spend quality time with the kiddos!
