DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A 16-year-old was shot and killed in a shooting in Decatur Monday night. 

An 18-year-old was also injured.

The Decatur Police Department was called for a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of S. Westdale Ave. just after 9:30 p.m. 

Officers found a 16-year-old boy who had been shot and an 18-year-old man who had suffered a laceration to the facial area.

Both victims were taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital. The 16-year-old later died. The 18-year-old was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene to process evidence, interview witnesses, and recover video surveillance footage.

The investigation remains active. 

The Decatur Police Department believes this was a targeted attack, and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
