DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur Public Library celebrated its 150th anniversary with a block party on Saturday.

The free event ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the DPL greenspace.

There was face painting, bubbles and caricatures. The Children's Museum, Scovill Zoo and other partners offered various activities for families. There were also local food trucks.

DPL Librarian Alix Frazier said it was exciting to celebrate the big day with their community.

"Libraries are a major part of most of their communities. We're there and open for everyone that walks in. We have resources and entertainment for all ages," Frazier said. "If you don't know where to go, a lot of people tell you to go to the library and we can help you find the answer."
