DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Decatur police are investigating a rash of vandalism calls after windows and doors were shot out at downtown churches and businesses this week.Â
The owner of Speakeasy Records in the 600 block of W. Eldorado, Brian Abbott, posted photos of the store's glass front door shot out. He told WAND News it happened overnight between April 14 and 15.Â
Decatur police told us that between April 13 and April 15, there were five reports of vandalism, all with very similar circumstances.Â
Sentinel Pest Control at 955 N Monroe St. told WAND News their front door was also shot out. They said their security camera recorded the incident. WAND News has requested to see the video.
St. John's Episcopal Church at 130 W Eldorado said a stained glass window covered in plexiglass was hit. It was discovered the morning of the 13th.Â
Glass doors and windows were all shot out with either BB guns or air soft guns at a church in the 100 block of W Eldorado (St. John's episcopal Church), a church in 1900 block of N Oakland and businesses in the 900 block of N Monroe (Sentinel Pest Control), 600 block of W Eldorado (Speakeasy Records), and the 900 block of W Eldorado.Â
Police do not have any suspects at this time. They are asking anyone or any business in these areas to check security cameras to see if they may have captured the person or people responsible.Â
DPD said they plan to have increased patrols in the area leading into the weekend.Â
