GREENUP, Ill. (WAND) — One person is dead and another was sent to the hospital after two crashes near each other in Cumberland County Saturday morning.
According to Illinois State Police, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash between a car and semi-truck just before 7:30 a.m.
It happened on I-70 westbound at milepost 113 near Greenup. One person was taken to the hospital.
At around 8:30 a.m., ISP said another crash involving three semi-trucks happened on I-70 westbound at milepost 114.
One driver died at the scene. It is unclear if the two crashes were related.
Westbound I-70 has been shut down while officers investigate, with traffic being diverted at the Greenup exit to IL Route 40.
