Jacksonville, Ill. (WAND) — Jacksonville Drumline Institute performed at the Drum Corp International World Championship in Indianapolis last weekend taking home prestigious awards.

Twenty students and alumni traveled to what is considered the "global capital of marching music" to show off their skills.

Organizers say the outdoor event, The Shining Light on Music Education's Food and Music Festival, was born from a partnership with DCI, Music for All, and Downtown Indy, Inc. The festival features local and regional ensembles and percussion groups like JDI.

The drummers took home fourth place in the drum-line battle. They performed featured favorites from their lineup. The JDI was also chosen as theĀ  Unleaded88 All Stars "hype team" to energize the crowd prior to the DrumLine Battle's Championship Round. The JDI took home a silver rating for their performance set and the Spirit Award, which is only awarded to one group within the 20 bands and ensembles.

The group also attended Lucas Oil Stadium's DCI Semi-Final and Championship Rounds.
